What it does

What PurpletGo does in Slack

Two halves, two connections. Slack: offboarding alerts, approvals from the channel, and status checks, on any Slack plan. Slack (Admin): deactivates the departing employee's Slack account through Slack SCIM, which needs a Slack Business+ or Enterprise plan.

What you need

  • A Slack incoming webhook URL for notifications.
  • For the buttons: your Slack app's signing secret and a bot token with the users:read and users:read.email scopes.
  • For account deactivation: a Slack Business+ or Enterprise plan (Slack offers SCIM only on those plans) and a user token (xoxp-) with the admin scope, installed by a Workspace or Org Owner or Admin.

Plan

All plans (notifications and account deactivation); Team (approval buttons). Account deactivation also needs a Slack Business+ or Enterprise plan

Setup

Set up Slack in PurpletGo

  1. 1

Open Integrations, find Slack, click Connect, and paste the incoming webhook URL.

  2. 2

Optionally add the signing secret, bot token, and team ID, and confirm your password.

  3. 3

In your Slack app, set the interactivity URL and the /purpletgo command URL shown in PurpletGo.

  4. 4

For account deactivation, connect Slack (Admin) under Access Revocation Apps.

Good to know

  • Alerts, approvals, and status checks work on any Slack plan. Account deactivation uses Slack SCIM, so on Slack Free or Pro the Slack (Admin) connection cannot deactivate members; remove them in Slack yourself.
  • Approvers' Slack emails must match their PurpletGo emails. Without a bot token, messages link to PurpletGo instead of showing buttons.
  • Requests that need a multi-step approval chain are reviewed in PurpletGo.

Why this matters

Offboarding requests that wait in someone's inbox slow everything down - approving them in the Slack channel your team already watches keeps departures moving.
