Common questions about asset recovery
How does employee asset recovery work during offboarding?
Assets are recorded against employees in your PurpletGo employee directory, by hand or by CSV import. When that person is offboarded, their laptops, monitors, badges, and phones appear on the offboarding. On every plan, IT can record the return's carrier and tracking number on the offboarding, open the carrier's tracking page from there, and mark the package received, which marks the assets in it returned.
What happens if a departing employee never returns their equipment?
Unreturned assets are grouped by how overdue they are (1-7 days, 8-30 days, 30+ days), and admins get an email two days before a return deadline. The offboarding cannot be completed while any assigned asset is still out: each one must be returned or, if it will not come back, marked lost so it stays on record. PurpletGo does not lock or wipe devices; do that in your device management tool.
Can I track asset condition, not just whether it was returned?
Yes. Each asset has a condition field, and you can attach photos of returned equipment to its return record, which helps document damage when something comes back in poor condition.
Does asset recovery work for remote employees?
Yes. Send the employee a return label from your own carrier account, then record the carrier and tracking number on the offboarding. Everyone can follow the package from there, and when it arrives IT marks it received, which marks the assets in it returned. PurpletGo does not create or pay for shipping labels.
Can I recover assets for dozens of employees at once during a layoff?
Yes. From the Assets page you can select many assets and mark them returned in one action, and the offboarding board lets you advance several cases at once. Return tracking is recorded one offboarding at a time.
